Barbara Passeri Warfel has earned a reputation for excellence as an oil painter and instructor of oil painting and drawing in South Central Pennsylvania. Although she is known for her portraits, she enjoys drawing and painting flowers and fruit grown in her garden, creating beautiful still life compositions. Ms. Passeri Warfel holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in art education from Rowan University and graduate study in advanced drawing at the University of Hartford. Serious study in oil painting started in 1987 with instruction from Li Hidley and John Whitney. In 1990 she began instructing adults in basic painting techniques and portraiture in oils for the Art Association of Harrisburg, and later at the Arts Center School and Gallery. Sharing her love for art activity is a great joy. In 1998 she designed and implemented an arts program especially for senior adults, in assisted living, interested in learning to draw or paint. She implememted art programs in 17 different facilities spanning three counties in South Central PA. She was honored to receive the 2006 Spectrum Award for Excellence in the Art from Jump Street, Harrisburg's center for the arts and culture. In 2008 Barbara published a manual entitled "Simple Lines Make a Difference." "Simple Lines" is designed for use by caregivers working with residence in an assisted living setting. The manual offers necessary information on how to start a meaningful art program and many activities needed to sustain it. |
